Disclaimer
LasSound Judgement6.
This Disclaimer applies to ai-ok.org, the AI:OK registry, certificates, the trustmark and all AI:OK documents, including the Standards, Methodology and Framework pages. It forms part of the Terms of Service.
1. What certification is
AI:OK certification is a voluntary assessment of documented evidence that an applicant supplied, measured against a published standard, for a stated scope and at a stated time. A certificate speaks to that scope and that time only. Like any audit or assessment, it cannot remove risk.
2. What certification is not
Certification is not:
legal advice or a legal opinion;
a warranty or guarantee that any model, output, recording, catalogue or business practice is free of copyright infringement, breach of contract, breach of personality rights or any other legal defect;
a statement that a certified entity complies with any law, including the EU AI Act, copyright law or data protection law;
an assessment by a regulator or a statutory conformity assessment body;
a licence, clearance or authorisation of any work, dataset or output; or
an endorsement of any product, service or output beyond the certified basis.
3. Limits of what AI:OK verifies
AI:OK does not audit training data at file level and does not verify the lawful sourcing of third-party models. It relies on the evidence and declarations that applicants provide, and it may contact licensors and suppliers named in an application to confirm them. The standard does not assess how a system handles imitation of a named artist’s voice or likeness, or how it responds to rights holder opt-outs, and certification says nothing on those points.
4. Status between reviews
AI:OK does not monitor certified entities continuously. A registry entry shows the status AI:OK last recorded. It may not reflect events since the last review, and it may lag a recent decision. If you rely on a certificate, check the registry on the day.
5. No advice
Nothing on this website is legal, financial, tax or investment advice. Descriptions of laws, regulations and standards, including the EU AI Act and IFPI chart principles, are summaries for information at the date shown. They may be incomplete or out of date. Check the primary source and take your own advice.
6. Reliance by others
AI:OK owes duties to the entities it assesses, under the Terms of Service. It owes none to any other person. A third party who relies on a certificate or registry entry does so at its own judgement and risk. To the extent the law allows, AI:OK accepts no liability to a third party for that reliance, wherever the third party is based.
7. Certified entities act for themselves
Certified entities are independent businesses. They are responsible for their products, claims and conduct. A certificate does not make AI:OK a party to their relationships with customers, artists or rights holders, and AI:OK is not responsible for what they say or do, including how they describe their certification.
8. Third-party names and marks
Fairly Trained, ISO, IEEE, C2PA, IFPI, AIUC-1, the EU and other names, standards and marks mentioned on this website belong to their owners. They are mentioned for information. AI:OK is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by them unless it says so.
9. Quotations and statements by others
Quotations are published only with the permission of the person quoted, who has confirmed the wording and attribution. They do not show that those individuals’ organisations endorse AI:OK, its certificates or any certified entity.
10. Sound Judgement
Sound Judgement, AI:OK’s AI literacy programme, is educational. It is not legal advice. Completing it does not guarantee certification or compliance with any law.
11. Website content and links
AI:OK takes reasonable care to keep this website accurate, and does not warrant that it is complete, current or free of error. Links to other websites are for convenience. AI:OK does not control or endorse them.
12. Limits of liability
To the maximum extent the law permits, AI:OK excludes liability arising from use of this website or reliance on its content. Nothing in this Disclaimer limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. The Terms of Service set out the position for applicants and certified entities.
